AAGC: Trump Attacks on Comey, ABC Part of Larger Agenda to Weaponize Government Against Perceived Enemies

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Trump Administration took further action to weaponize the government against opponents - with the second indictment of former FBI Director James Comey and attacks by the FCC on Disney’s ABC licenses following pre-recorded remarks by Jimmy Kimmel that caught ire from the president.

“These attacks aren’t happening in isolation. From targeting individuals like James Comey to threatening the licenses of broadcasters, this is a coordinated effort to use government power to control who can speak, what can be said, and who gets heard. That’s not how a democracy works—and should alarm every American regardless of party,” said Cole Leiter, Executive Director of Americans Against Government Censorship.
