Washington, D.C. -- Following news reports that President Donald Trump is appointing Stephen Miller to be the new White House Chief of Staff and the Department of Treasury is threatening to revoke the nonprofit status of groups it perceives as political enemies, Cole Leiter, Executive Director of Americans Against Government Censorship shared a statement:
“Three days ago millions of American voters delivered a clear repudiation of Donald Trump’s corruption and weaponization agenda. But instead of receiving that message, the President and his administration have chosen to double down on their attacks against political opponents. Stephen Miller has been the architect of Trump’s failed immigration policies, his constant attempts to wield the power of the federal government against his opponents and his efforts to turn nonpartisan law enforcement into the President’s police force. The American people have been very clear that they want their government focused on bringing down costs and making sure everyone plays by the same set of rules. As the incoming Congress prepares its agenda, there is a clear mandate to investigate the weaponization of government and strengthen the guardrails that protect everyday Americans from that same corrupted government. That is how we ensure all Americans are treated equally without fear or favor.”
