Statement from Americans Against Government Censorship on House Passage of the SAVE America Act
Washington, D.C. – Following the passage of the SAVE America Act, Americans Against Government Censorship Executive Director Cole Leiter shared the following statement:
Today, 213 Members of Congress stood up to ensure Americans can cast their ballots and hold their elected officials accountable. The Republican majority chose power instead.
The SAVE America Act is not about election security — it is about making it harder for Americans to hire and fire the people who govern them. By weakening state election systems and inviting federal interference into who gets to vote, this furthers Trump’s agenda to keep and maintain power for himself and his allies.
In a free society, power belongs to everyday people, not the politicians who try to change the rules to hold onto it. How lawmakers voted on this bill shows who is defending that principle — and who is trying to avoid answering for what they have done in office.
