Americans Against Government Censorship Condemns Trump Administration’s Outrageous Attack on SPLC

Washington, D.C. – Americans Against Government Censorship (AAGC) today condemned the Department of Justice’s outrageous indictment of the Southern Poverty Law Center, the latest effort by the Trump Administration to punish perceived political enemies and weaponize the government against nonprofits, including key civil rights organizations like SPLC.  

Cole Leiter, Executive Director of AAGC, shared this statement: 

“No President — whether Trump or whoever comes after — should be able to weaponize the government against their political opponents. Adding to the absurdity of this administration’s indictment of the Southern Poverty Law Center is the fact that the SPLC — a deeply rooted civil rights organization — has long been a partner of law enforcement in their shared work to keep communities safe from violent extremists. We stand united with them against this dangerous abuse of government power.”
