AAGC Statement on Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche

Washington, DC – Americans Against Government Censorship Executive Director Cole Leiter released the following statement in response to President Donald Trump’s firing of Attorney General Pam Bondi and his elevation of Todd Blanche to Acting Attorney General.

“Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche are five words that should send a chill down the spine of any American who cares about their freedom to speak out against their government. Under Pam Bondi, the Department of Justice has lost the trust of the American people as she has turned the department into the President’s personal law firm prosecuting his political opponents. And now that he’s installed his literal personal defense attorney as the Acting Attorney General, we can only assume the President will ramp up his attacks on political opponents and those who oppose his policies. 

“As the Senate navigates a confirmation process for the next Attorney General, it is imperative that the nominee and this Administration answer serious questions about how they will safeguard everyday Americans against further weaponization of the government. The President’s personal vendettas must not be executed via federal law enforcement.”
